Cathedral Ledge and North Conway Adventure Elopement
The White Mountains are home to countless incredible spots for summit elopements, and these kinds of weddings truly hold a special place in our hearts. There’s something undeniably magical about hiking up to your ceremony, taking in the awe-inspiring views, and then soaking in the warm, golden evening light that bathes the mountains in a soft glow. It’s an adventure, an unforgettable moment, and the perfect way to start a new chapter together.
For Annalise and Josh, they wanted a location that was both accessible and stunning—Cathedral Ledge in North Conway fit the bill perfectly. As a New Hampshire state park, Cathedral Ledge does require a permit for ceremonies with guests at the overlook, but the best part is that you can drive right up to the spot and still enjoy some of the most epic views the area has to offer.
After a heartfelt ceremony with their closest family members, we captured some beautiful family portraits before heading to one of our favorite nearby spots—Black Cap Mountain. Just a short drive from Cathedral Ledge, Black Cap offers an easy-to-moderate hike through a mixed forest of deciduous trees and evergreens. As you make your way up, the forest opens up to reveal a series of rocky outcroppings with panoramic, 360-degree views of the mountains and valleys.
Although we’ve always photographed here during sunset, the scenery at any time of day is simply spectacular. On this day, we had an absolute blast exploring the rocky summit lined with evergreens and soaking in some of the most golden light we’ve ever had in our galleries. It was one of those moments where everything aligned—the light, the location, and most importantly, the couple.
