Mt. Moosilauke New Hampshire 4,000 Footer Elopement

Lauren & Ian hiked the Appalachian Trail together one summer all the way from Georgia to the border of Maine. They were engaged on the trail further south, but fell in love with the dramatic and difficult terrain of New Hampshire. Mt. Moosilauke was one of their favorite parts of the trail and they couldn’t imagine a more beautiful backdrop to their sunset elopement of their dreams.

We began our hike on a beautiful August day. There was a light cooling breeze making it a perfect day to hike. A short distance down the trail Ian and Lauren changed into their elopement attire and did a first look in an open field so they could continue the rest of their hike in their attire. That was key for Lauren especially, when we first met she said she dreamed of her elopement hike being done almost entirely in her wedding dress which she altered herself.

We hiked on and enjoyed every moment of our time on the trail together swapping hiking stories, reminiscing about their time on the AT, and Lauren being a mycologist identifying different mushrooms she found. Towards the summit we started getting excited because the lighting was getting beautiful for their ceremony. Lauren and Ian enjoyed a quick snack of hummus and pita chips before prepping for their summit wedding ceremony. They wrote their vows in a trail journal they kept together and managed to say their vows in privacy as the sun began to set to the south.

After the ceremony we took some portraits before hiking to the south summit for cake and sunset. They stored their cake in a bear can which in my opinion fit the aesthetic perfectly. Moosilauke glowed red as the sun went down and we started our hike back in the dark. In the same field where the couple had their first look we stopped for a few minutes and gazed at the stars on our way to our cars. Their day was simple, but all about their experiences, relationship and truly spent in the best way a couple could have their White Mountain elopement
