Crawford Notch Elopement: Corrine & Michael
The sun peaked through the trees and danced across the ground as we hiked to the summit. There was a chill in the air, not the usual early fall coolness creeping in, but it truly felt like a mid-October day. At the summit of Mt. Willard in the White Mountain National Forest of New Hampshire, Anton and I basked in the sun as we awaited Corrine, Michael, and their dearest friends.
When they arrived we were greeted by smiles from all. Michael and his buddies took one social path into the forest to change, while I led the ladies to another spot to get ready. There was laughter and love all around. The couple’s dogs explored the forest. Michael had not yet seen Corrine in her beautiful short lace dress so a first look was in order.
The wedding party gathered on one side of the cliff and watched as Corrine slowly approached a very excited Michael. As she tapped him on the shoulder he slowly turned to take in his beautiful bride. Then there was a moment of silence as if the entire Earth stood still. Not even a gust of wind passed by. It was broken by Michael lovingly embracing his soon to be wife and cheers from the wedding party.
The ceremony began with Corrine and Michael’s friend as officiant, so personal. Then Michael said his vows to Corrine. They sent shivers down our spines. His love for Corrine unfolded like a story book before us. Tears formed in her eyes as Michael revealed his soul to her.
As the shadows stretched across the valley and evening set in the couple said, ‘I Do’. Every kiss they shared was more passionate than the last.
