Midcoast Maine Sunrise Elopement: Lauren & Austin
When we started chatting with Lauren & Austin about their ideal day we bounced around a ton of ideas on the coast of Maine, a place very special to the couple. They new they wanted to get married early in the morning so they could enjoy the rest of their day together.
A series of events actually caused the couple to elope in their hometown of St. Louis about a month before their planned elopement. They kept their day as planned in order to honor their marriage and say their vows privately. We met at 5am and walked down to the shore together through a wooded path, it was so foggy you couldn’t see 50 feet ahead. The fog provided a minimalist backdrop so the couple could relax and focus on each other during this important time. The beauty of nature here was in the many colored rocks dotting the coastline.
Once their vows were said Lauren and Austin weren’t just married, they were married completely in soul. A legal transaction can be done quite easily at any city hall, but truly being married requires something so far beyond a pen and paper.
We drove back to their beautiful Bed & Breakfast to grab their picnic brunch before hitting our next destination. Lauren being a francophile naturally booked the “Paris” room to complete the French look of their elopement. Before heading off to our hike we made sure to head over to Camden Harbor for some photos on the docks in the fog.
We definitely saved the best for last. The hike was all that and more as we journeyed through what appeared to be an enchanted forest opening up to seaside overlooks. It went out to more dramatic coastline and the sun FINALLY broke through the fog. They enjoyed their picnic on the rocks and we had a blast capturing these two in their element.
