Choosing your elopement location in Colorado can be a bit daunting because this mountainous state has so much landscape diversity. Here is our list of our favorite Colorado elopement locations curated from our extensive travels throughout the state. These aren’t your typical Rocky Mountain National Park elopements that are generally crowded. Be unique - go off the beaten path!
Breckenridge & Summit County Adventure Elopements
Less than 2 hours from Denver the town of Breckenridge and surrounding Summit County offer some of the best scenery in Colorado. The area is easily accessible from Denver International Airport (DEN) if you are flying in. There is no lack of amazing trails and vistas both in the area and in the surrounding White River & San Isabel National Forests.
Best for:
With a large selection of vacation rentals, this area is perfect for intimate weddings and couples traveling with friends and family. Whether you’re looking for elope on skis (5 local resorts), have a mountain lodge wedding, or use the stunning wildflowers and rugged peaks as the backdrop to your adventure elopement - Summit county has it all.

Crested Butte Adventure Elopements
If you’re looking for a more off the beaten path location with insane views around every corner - Crested Butte is for you. This isolated mountain town is known for the best wildflowers in Colorado in July. The scenery here is also quite different from other parts of Colorado - the valleys are lush and open. The Rocky Mountain peaks seem to meld with the wildflower and aspen-packed meadows below.
Best for: If you want a private and quiet place to elope - this might be your best bet. Also great for adventurous couples who want to spend their wedding weekend backpacking, mountain biking or skiing.

San Juan National Forest & Ouray Adventure Elopements
We can’t say enough good about the San Juan mountain range of Colorado. Known as the Switzerland of America you will quickly see why when you start driving down the Million Dollar Highway from Ouray to Durango. This part of Colorado is some of the most beautiful scenery in North America and well worth the drive from Denver or Grand Junction.
Best for: Those who want dramatic views without a long hike. The Million Dollar Highway offers miles of overlooks where you can choose from a variety of backdrops for your wedding ceremony.

Steamboat Springs Adventure Elopements
Steamboat Springs and Yampa Valley is a truly special part of Colorado. If you are sensitive to altitude this location provides gorgeous mountain vistas at lower altitudes from the rest of our Colorado locations. Not to mention world class skiing and some of the best hot springs in the Rockies! You can choose to elope at one of the wildflower meadows, on the ski slopes, a waterfall, or at a beautiful ranch.
Best for: Those looking for a mountain town with a variety of things to do, great food options, and a low key vibe.
Favorite hidden gem: Strawberry Park Hot Springs if you’re looking for a romantic soak, or Backdoor Grill if you want to satisfy your pub grub and apres ski cravings.
Loveland Pass Adventure Elopements
There is a reason why Loveland Pass is one of the more well-trafficked locations within Colorado. However, if you opt to elope midweek (especially during shoulder seasons) Loveland Pass will not disappoint. Just 45 minutes from the Denver metro area.
Best for: Couples looking to elope closer to Denver, or those looking to bring a few guests.

Great Sand Dunes National Park
If you are looking for something truly unique for your elopement how about the tallest sand dunes in all of North America surrounded by some of the tallest Colorado 14ers? We love the diversity and minimalism of this incredible landscape.
Best for: Those looking for dramatic views and a little bit of mountains mixed with desert. This area is also more private than many other parts of Colorado so it’s great for those looking to get away from it all!
